Good Morning, Village Idiots!

It’s Tuesday, March 3rd. The weekend was for pajamas (specifically my green striped ones—did you catch yesterday’s post?), but today is for getting down to business.

In honor of Day 3 of my 30 Days of Carrie challenge, I’m channeling the ultimate “I just woke up like this” professional look: The Oversized White Button-Down. Specifically my husband’s crisp white Calvin Klein dress shirt.

Sometimes you really can get clever with items and skip the “over the top” price tags. A men’s shirt of any kind looks good on a female right? Grab one of your man’s button down shirts (probably still has the dry-cleaner tag on it from the last wedding you attended) and a great belt to cinch that waist in. Don’t forget the heels and hoops, you’re a lady after all!

We all remember the iconic green and white striped dress Carrie wore while walking through the streets of Paris (or perhaps her love for a bold, vertical stripe). Possibly even stalking Mr. Big and his mother in church. Green and white, it’s fresh, it’s preppy, and it’s unapologetically loud... Just like myself.

In all honesty I didn’t have to go to a boutique to find my version. I just had to go to my underwear drawer. I found a green and white striped pajama set in my closet that was such a dead ringer for the look, I knew I had to make it work for “out-of-the-house” life.

The key to pulling off sleepwear as day-wear is all in the “Carrie-fication” of the accessories. To keep it from looking like I actually rolled out of bed, I’m styling the look with a Calvin Klein Blazer and Kate Spade handbag. My necklace is a Chrystal statement piece from J. Crew and only Carrie would pair these two items together, but it is definitely fun

There’s a fine line between sleep wear and slay wear for both “Carrie” and I. Keeping it a mystery and shock is half the fun.

So here it is, fashion doesn’t have to be expensive, and it certainly shouldn’t be restrictive. If Carrie can wear a bird on her head or a tutu in Manhattan, I can certainly wear my favorite stripes to grab coffee. I live in Las Vegas, I am lucky enough to have Paris down the street and a town full of people that won’t even look twice if you’re walking down the strip in your underwear, its half expected lets be honest.

For the most part my life began to change in June of 2023. No longer is my health a mystery, thank god! I am approaching 3 years of being gluten free and prescription free. I am 47 and after some serious life experiences I decided to take an honest wack at a holistic way of living. I now only supplement for my deficiencies and avoid processed food as well as anything that has wheat flour on the label. If you have any issue with folate or have a vitamin B deficiency due to mal-absorption, you’ll be annoyed to know you should not consume bread, cereal or pasta. These particular foods are sprayed with folic acid (synthetic folate, man made, good grief) and can lead to several gut issues and intolerences. This collection I take focuses heavily on metabolic health, immune support, and systemic wellness.

Supplement Breakdown

Thyroid Support (Metabolism) Contains herbs and minerals (often iodine, selenium, or ashwagandha) intended to support energy levels and thyroid function

To be fair, I wasn’t there to take the SATs or worrying about my parking job in the student parking lot. I was there for “Bring Your Parent to School Day” with my daughter. Walking through those front doors, I half-expected to hear Green Day playing over the intercom and see someone wearing a starter jacket.

Instead, I stepped into 2026—a world that feels kinda like a sci-fi movie filmed in my old backyard. Here is what the Class of ’97 learned about the Class of 2029.

Time Loop...what the fashion

The first thing I noticed? I’m accidentally trendy again. I saw three kids wearing flannels and baggy jeans that looked suspiciously like my 1990’s hallway. I told my daughter her generation was “biting our style,” and she responded by telling me to lower my voice...FYI its not possible.

In ‘97, my backpack weighed 40 pounds because of the physical copies of text books! Actually books. Today? The hallways are eerily quiet. No slamming lockers, and actually no one uses a locker. You can have one but they don’t want one. I’m still confused. No frantic pencil sharpening (I did use a pencil during our engineering class). Just the soft glow of tablets and the occasional “ping” of a notification and that would have been from a parent phone because these kids know how to stay stealth.

• Then: Passing a folded triangle note and praying the teacher didn’t intercept it. Or having to do a mad rush through the halls to give a note to a “friend”.

• Now: A silent AirDrop that happens while the teacher is literally looking at them. BTW these kids are a totally different breed that us. They all seem like they could work as international spies.

The “Cafeteria” Has Evolved

I remember “Square Pizza Fridays” and mystery meat. Today, I watched my daughter check an app to see the nutritional breakdown of a protein bar. We’ve come a long way from the vending machine being the height of culinary technology.

Despite the smart-glasses, the AI-tutors, and the fact that nobody knows what a “payphone” is, one thing hasn’t changed. High school is still about finding your footing.

Watching Khloe in her element was the best part of the day. In ‘97, I was so worried about well stupid stuff. In 2026, I realized that watching her be herself—navigating a world that moves at 100 mph with more confidence than I ever had—is way cooler than any flannel shirt.

High school in 2026 is faster, louder (digitally), and way more complex than the 90s. But as we walked to the car, and she asked if we could go home because shes starving. I realized that some things never change.

I’m just glad I don’t have to do the homework.

“Walking out through the courtyard at 1:25 I realized that while the soundtrack has changed from Jagged Little Pill to whatever is currently trending on an algorithm I don’t understand, the ‘High School Experience’ is surprisingly familiar.

The lockers are smaller (and mostly abandoned), the notes are digital, and the ‘cool kids’ are now influencers, but the core remains the same: it’s a four-year marathon of trying to find your people, your voice, and maybe a parking spot.

In 1997, I couldn’t wait to leave. In 2026, as I watched my daughter navigate a world that moves ten times faster than mine ever did, I realized I’m not just a visitor from a different era—I’m her biggest fan. I might not understand the slang, and I definitely don’t miss the smell of the gym, but seeing her handle her world with more grace than I had at fifteen? That’s ‘da bomb.’ (Do they still say that? No. Do I care? Definitely not.)

Welcome to February, everyone! Or as I like to call it: The Month Where New Year’s Resolutions Go to Die and Get Replaced by Half-Price Conversation Hearts.

If January is the overachieving older sibling who wakes up at 5:00 AM for a cold plunge and a kale smoothie, February is the sibling who woke up late, can’t find their matching socks, and is just trying to make it to March without catching a seasonal cold.

Here is why February is objectively the weirdest, funniest, and most lovable month on the calendar:

1. The Spelling Crisis

We’ve been humans for a long time, yet 90% of us still have to pause and think, “Is there an ‘r’ after the ‘b’?” Yes, it’s Feb-ru-ary. We just collectively decided to stop pronouncing that first ‘r’ because it’s too much work for a month that only has 28 days. It’s the linguistic equivalent of a typo that stayed in the final draft.

2. The Groundhog: Our Supreme Weather Overlord

In what other month do we gather in a freezing field in Pennsylvania to watch a giant squirrel decide the fate of our heating bills? If Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow, we’re doomed. If he doesn’t, we’re still doomed, but at least we feel better for five minutes. It’s the only form of meteorology based entirely on rodent anxiety.

3. The Relationship Rollercoaster

February 14th is the day where you either:

• Spend $100 on a prefix menu featuring a “deconstructed” strawberry.

• Buy a giant stuffed bear that will eventually live in your attic for the next decade.

• Aggressively ignore the holiday while eating a “Family Size” bag of Reese’s Cups by yourself.

Either way, the real winners are the people who go to the grocery store on February 15th for the 75% off candy. That’s the true “Season of Love.”

4. Leap Year Shenanigans (Every 4 Years)

Every so often, February decides it wants to be special and adds a 29th day. It’s the universe’s way of saying, “Surprise! You have to work one extra day this year for the exact same salary!” If you’re a “Leapling” born on the 29th, happy 6th birthday to my 24-year-old friends. Enjoy your juice boxes.

5. The Seasonal Identity Crisis

February is the only month where you can experience all four seasons in a single Tuesday. It starts with a blizzard, turns into a “delightful” 50-degree afternoon that makes you think spring is here, and ends with freezing rain that turns your driveway into an ice rink.

Pro Tip: Don’t put your heavy coat away. February smells weakness.

I have a deep love for February—not because it’s my birthday month, but because it’s the month both of my daughters were born. Like most parents, my husband and I were thrilled during pregnancy number one. We were just as “over the moon” when we found out baby number two was coming... also in February.

The phrase “busy month” came to mind, but “efficient” followed closely behind. Finally, we could knock out three birthdays in one month! I’m a big believer in the combo party; I simply cannot see myself inviting the same people to two separate kid events in the same month. It’s not happening.

However, a funny thing happened when we found out baby number two was due on February 23rd. I started getting nervous. I was terrified they would end up sharing the exact same birth date. I know what you’re thinking: Why does it matter, especially if you’re making them share a party anyway? Honestly, it doesn’t... but the heart wants what it wants!

To avoid the date-match, the decision was made: I would be induced.

We headed to the hospital on the night of February 16th. Little Miss arrived a mere two to three hours later. While I was busy watching SNL and being told to basically “do nothing” because the baby was coming now, my husband was asleep on the hospital suite couch. At one point, he actually started telling one of the nurses how tired he was. LOL. I honestly could have laughed that baby out of me right then and there. (To all my nurse friends out there: you are incredible, and your patience for “tired” husbands is legendary!)

But as if God Himself wanted to remind me that you cannot prevent what is meant to be, I delivered that child at exactly 2:23 AM. The irony of that “2:23” timestamp against her original due date of the 23rd was not lost on me.

And just to let you know how “in control” I really am: both of my girls ended up being born on the Sunday of Presidents’ Day weekend. So much for avoiding the same birthday vibe! I really did a knockout job on that one.
